No hero should fight alone.

Every day, first responders and veterans face silent battles. The Ride to Fight Suicide is a community-powered event committed to breaking the stigma around mental health and suicide in these high-stress professions.

All proceeds directly benefit programs that support the mental wellness of Virginia’s veterans and first responders. These programs are Mission 22, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Virginia First Responder Support Services.

Virginia First Responder Support Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting first responders affected by mental health challenges and suicide. It provides resources, advocacy, education, and community to those in need.

Mission 22 is a non-profit focused on combating veteran suicide, raising awareness about mental health issues, and offering support programs, including outreach, peer support, and treatment options, aiming to reduce the staggering suicide rate among veterans.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a national non-profit organization committed to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP focuses on education, research, advocacy, and support for individuals and families affected by suicide, working toward preventing future tragedies.

All three organizations work to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and provide critical resources to those at risk.

Thin line Wellness and Recovery

Thin Line Wellness and Recovery, LLC

A specialized mental health practice that serves first responders, veterans, and their families through trauma-informed clinical services. Thin Line Wellness and Recovery, LLC has three clinicians who work with individuals, couples, and children both in-person and via telehealth. We serve first responders and veterans across the state of Virginia.

Both Virginia First Responder Support Services (VFRSS) and Thin Line Wellness and Recovery, LLC are owned and operated by my husband, Gene “Ben” Thompson, and me. We work collaboratively across both organizations to ensure continuity between clinical services, peer support, education, and community-based outreach, while maintaining appropriate ethical, legal, and operational boundaries between the nonprofit and clinical practice. Our shared leadership allows us to align mission, values, and logistics while remaining responsive to the needs of the first responder community we serve.
